AWP

Average Weighted Price is a value calculated each day based on the Net System Load Shape for billing of non-interval metered customers. ( aka - Weighted Average Hourly Spot Price).

Demand

The rate at which electricity is being used at any one given time. This is typically measured in kiloWatts (kW) or kiloVoltamps (kVa).

Estimated Cost

The Estimated Cost is calculated based on consumption to date in the month and the HOEP prices to date in the month.

Energy

The total amount of electricity consumed over a period of time. This is measured in kiloWatt-hours (kWh).

HOEP

Hourly Ontario Energy Price as published by the IESO each trading day and in the preliminary and final wholesale statements.

kiloVoltAmps (kVa)

A unit of measurement for demand.

kiloWatts (kW)

A unit of measurement for demand.

kiloWatt Hours (kWh)

A kWh is the amount of energy in (or work done by) a power of one kiloWatt (kW) operating for one hour.

kVar

kVar is a measurement of reactive power in AC circuits. Inductive and capacitive loads consume reactive power. Inductive reactive energy is required to generate the necessary electro-magnetic effect to operate most common motors, transformers, welding machines and inductive heating coils.

Load Factor

The ratio of energy consumed by a load during a given period of time to that which would have been consumed if the load had operated at the peak demand 100% of the time.

NSLS

Net System Load Shape – Total energy purchased from the IESO by the market participant, less all retail interval meter loads, less all street lighting loads in the market participants territory = the net system load shape. The Average Weighted Price is calculated from the net system load shape in order to determine the cents per kWh for each day that is applicable to non-interval metered customers for billing.

Peak

The peak demand to date in the period for the facility.

Power Factor

The relationship between working (active) power and total power consumed (apparent power).

Target Cost

The target cost is the same month’s energy cost in the previous year. (If available)

Time of Peak

The time of day that the Peak Demand was reached.
