Wireless Communications

Utilismart Corporation has acquired and deployed the priority software offered by SmartSynch to provide Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) and Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers with a wireless interval metering solution. The solution can be utilized to meet the needs of many different types of interval meter installation scenarios. Utilismart Corporation is operating the SmartSynch Transaction Management System (TMS) software which collects the interval meter data throughout North America using either the GPRS (Rogers) or ReFlex (Pagenet) wireless data collection networks. Wireless data collection is more cost effective than maintaining a dedicated phone line to the interval meter.

Utilismart Corporation is currently piloting SmartSynch wireless technology with a number of Ontario based LDCs which are utilizing the Elster A3 and/or Itron Sentinel interval meters with the SmartSynch wireless communication module in the meters. Once a meter is installed, tested and configured for data collection on the TMS and utilismart^TM systems, Utilismart Corporation offers a suite of interval meter data collection services to the customer. Utilismart Corporation's service offering includes data collection and data transfer to customers via a secure FTP service, data Validation, Estimation, Editing (VEE) and a web based set of downloadable reports that includes graphs and data tables. Utilismart Corporation's web reports include consumption, demand, historic and current cost and rate information as well as their new DSM Cost Prediction Tool.

Utilities can purchase the Elster A3 or Itron Sentinel meter through either the meter manufacturer representative with a specification to have the SmartSynch communication module installed or directly from SmartSynch. Once the meters are installed Utilismart Corporation will poll the meters and provide the customer with any or all of the services described above depending on the customer's specific requirements.
