Current InitiativesA leader in energy solution and service initiatives, Utilismart stays involved in a range of projects to ensure we evolve with the ever changing electric marketplace. It's our way of making sure we're providing you with valid and timely information; and a great way to extend Utilismart Corporation's scope into the larger energy and customer communities. Here are some initiatives Utilismart Corporation participates in:
Ontario Centres of Excellence and Peak Electricity Demand ResearchThe University of Western Ontario, under the guidance of graduate student Gagan Toor has done some impressive R&D in collaboration with Utilismart. Based at the Ontario Centres of Excellence's Centre of Energy, Toor and his team are developing software that will allow electricity consumers to further manage their energy costs from their desktop-and reduce peak power demand in Ontario in the process. Peak reduction through pricing incentives encourages consumers to use power at non-peak times. Improved Demand Side Management will reduce the province's dependence on expensive imported power during peak demand periods. However, the proposed system requires consumers to have an easy way to know when the power will be inexpensive. This new Internet-based software makes this possible. Collaboration between UWO and Utilismart's customers will allow the finished software to be integrated into the utilismartTM Energy Manager product. Utilismart is proud to be a part of this partnership in conjunction with CITO (Communications and Information Technology Ontario)—a division of OCE Student Internship Program. Not only do internships create commercially relevant R&D, they also give young Ontario researchers the opportunity to work closely with business and industry in the province. They gain access to the resources they need to conduct their research and build a relationship that serves them for the next stage of their careers. DAM - Day Ahead MarketThe IESO has started to hold working group sessions to re-evaluate alternatives for the Day Ahead Market. The IESO will be holding stakeholder sessions in order to obtain participant's recommendations and will then begin the building and implementation of the Day Ahead Market. Utilismart Corporation will be actively monitoring the progress of the Day Ahead Market and will continue its endeavors to create a system that will validate your costs in the Day Ahead Market. DR / DSM / DG / TDRP - Demand Reduction / Demand Side Management / Distributed Generation / Transitional Demand Response Program
Utilismart Corporation has developed this feature to assist Commercial and Industrial customers with their demand management/demand reduction programs and conservation programs. Metering Sub-CommitteeUtilismart Corporation does not maintain or install meters, but has a direct responsibility to ensure that we can connect and interact with all metering technologies used by our customers. Participating in the IESO Metering Sub-Committee helps us ensure that we will be able to continue to keep pace with the requirements of the marketplace. Smart MeteringA recent development in the Ontario market, the Smart Metering Initiative is a plan to install a smart meter on every house in Ontario. Depending upon the specific government requirements, Utilismart Corporation is in an excellent position to both handle the volume of data that will be generated on a daily basis, and then formulate a method of access to that data via the web. While the current utilismartTM service provides you with all your settlement needs, the Smart Metering Initiative has determined the next Utilismart Corporation product offering. |
