Plan the replacement of assets and extend the life span.

Most utilities have experienced a dramatic expansion of their distribution network in the latter half of the 20th century. This reality drives implementation of an asset management program to carefully plan the replacement of assets and to extend their lifespan.

With constrained capital budgets and deferred asset replacement, utilities are now faced with a challenge of unplanned failures of the distribution assets. This challenge is heightened by the introduction of distributed generation and electric vehicles – inactivated loads on secondary circuits and distribution transformers that were not originally forecast.
