A celebration of coming together, learning and building strong business connections at this year’s Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU) Operations and Technical Conference was high on the agenda. The conference took place from 21-22 October 2020 at the KMU Training Centre in McPherson, Kansas. It was designed to offer useful information to superintendents, managers, supervisors, and crew leaders relating to the operation of a municipal utility.

This is the first social event that Utilismart has attended since the pandemic hit in March. Despite the fact that this year’s event was smaller in attendance, it was still well-received by conference delegates and participating vendors. Director of Sales: US West, Bryan Ehrlich, says “We were excited to hear that the event was going ahead as planned. This allowed us to pull our booth out of storage, dust it off, and rally up some brand awareness for the company within the KMU community.” Events such as these allow the company to put its best foot forward, showcase what the company can do, and even provide live product demo’s in a face-to-face environment. “We have already lined up a number of positive leads from the conference and managed to build on our relationship with KMU directly,” adds Ehrlich.

Utilismart was one of 18 conference sponsors at this year’s event and the only Meter Data Management (MDM) company in representation. Utilismart’s MDM system has been a vital component in helping a number of utilities across North America and Canada embrace Smart Grid strategies and technologies. “We’re able to handle large volumes of data from smart meters and Advanced Metering Infrastructure AMI platforms. Through this we can then manage, organize and convert this data into powerful analytics that gives utilities the edge on how energy, gas, and water is consumed by their customers,” concludes Ehrlich.
